Monument Canyon Trail Was Muddy But the Views Looked Great

Recently, I got the idea of going on another hiking adventure but it happens quite often living here in Western Colorado where beautiful views and trails surround us. After having done quite a few of the trails already I wanted to find a new one for me, with so many trails to choose from it didn't take long for me to settle on the Monument Canyon Trail here in Grand Junction.
I will admit I should have done more research on the trail because all the reviews I looked at were from the summertime. Once I started hiking I quickly realized this adventure was going to be fun but it was also going to be a muddy mess.
I began by driving to the Redlands and parked at the Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead, if you pop that into your Google Maps it will take you right there. Just a heads up that no dogs are allowed on this trail and no drones are allowed in this area either.
Scroll down just a bit and you will see a variety of pictures I took along my hike, including a trail register that I found not long into the hike that I thought was cool because other visitors could document what wildlife they saw while hiking. One fellow hiker told me that she saw some sheep but I didn't happen to see any wildlife.
It was muddy, it was chilly at times, but I still had a blast hiking the Monument Canyon Trail in Grand Junction. If you take this hike outside of the summer season I would suggest hiking boots.
