New Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse Members Sworn In Yesterday
The new year welcomes new volunteers with the Montrose County Sheriff's Posse. Take a look at yesterday's (January 11, 2021) swearing-in.

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse, Inc., is a non-profit corporation organized to provide services through the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office. The MCSP's official webpage states in Colorado, search and rescue is the responsibility of the County Sheriff. The webpage adds "...the Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse is a resource provided to the Sheriff or any other emergency agency in the county."
Incorporated in 1964, the Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation celebrating over 50 years of service to the community. - www.mcspi.org
Who makes up the posse? The MCSP consists of volunteers providing support to the Montrose County Sheriff's Office for:
- Search and Rescue
- Wildfire Suppression
- mutual aid to other county emergency service providers
- security to certain county events
The members of the MCSP are volunteers, on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They donate their time, and in some instances, their own vehicles and equipment.
