Saturday night the Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao fight was billed as a 'Super Fight', it was anything but super. In the1980s we had a number of 'super fights' and they were the real deal from the first bell to the end.

In the 80s, the fight scene was full of charters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Hector Camacho, Roberto Duran, Ray Mancini and Julio Cesar Chavez to name a few.

Go look up any of these fighters and you will see what a real fight should look like. These men had battles in the ring and no one ever said they wanted their money back.

From time to time we even had real 'super fights' when some of these fighters got in the ring together and they were wars.

There was none of this dance around and hug all night. No, they got into the ring with the intent to hurt the man across from them and they did.

If a person had never seen boxing before and this was their first experience they would never watch boxing again. That is why the UFC is killing boxing right now.

Back in the day when fighters got out of the ring they looked like they had been in a brawl after Saturday night both fighters looked like they had just trained.

It's sad to see the 'Sweet Science' turned into a ballroom sport where no one wants to get hurt or lay it on the line to win a fight. I hope boxing can find a few guys to turn the sport around, if not boxing's days are numbered.
