One of the greatest gifts we have is the memories we possess of days gone by.

Not all of our childhood memories may be pleasant, but nearly every childhood has pleasant memories revolving around toys. Certain toys always brought us a measure of joy - whether it was Legos, Lincon Logs, Tonka Trucks,  Play-doh, or maybe a slinky or a toy train. Or maybe it was a board game like Candyland, Careers, or Sorry!

Many of those classic toys are still around, decades later, but you wonder how many kids are experiencing the same joy you and I received from these toys. Today it seems the toybox is loaded with video games and cell phones rather than actual toys.

If you are old, like my dad, you may have had to make and build your toys. There wasn't a Sears & Roebuck or Montgomery Ward catalog to browse through, no big box store to visit, and no internet to connect you to the vast world of toys.

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm not old enough to have had to make my toys, but I do have some great memories of childhood toys. I asked our Facebook followers about their favorite childhood toys and they were more than happy to share.

And, of course, we did have some technology back in the day.

We had no internet, cell phones, cable or satellite TV. We spent time outside, with friends, on a bike, in a sandbox, on the driveway basketball court, the backyard football field, and the really lucky ones had a treehouse. Ah, yes, those were the good old days - and some great toys.
