This Sunday is the Super Bowl. This weekend means the end of another NFL season. It also means another weekend of increased Colorado State Patrol "The Heat Is On" DUI checkpoints.

I've lived in four states the past several years. This is the first place I've lived where Super Bowl weekend was considered an "increased alcohol consumption" weekend. Local and state law enforcement will be out in force tonight through Monday to apprehend intoxicated drivers in Mesa County.

According to Denver Post, officers statewide arrested 325 suspected DUI drivers during last year’s Super Bowl weekend. Don't chance it. Those that do risk their lives and the lives of others.

  • Alcohol/Drug Treatment and Education....$1000

So if your Super Bowl celebrations include drinking, choose a designated driver or find another option. Have a happy and safe Super Bowl weekend!
