The free agent market opened on Tuesday morning and one thing is clear, John Elway must like spending Pat Bowlen’s money. The chief officer of the Denver Broncos pulled out the checkbook and started dropping money like he was Pairs Hilton on a shopping spree.

The first deal saw John Elway pick up T. J. Ward from the Cleveland Browns for $23 million. The safety is coming off a season that saw him get 112 tackles and a pick-6. Ward is only 27 and should play out his four-year deal easily.

The next deal Elway made was to pluck cornerback Aqib Talib from the New England Patriots. That deal is a big one as the Broncos gave Talib a six year $57 million dollar deal. Talib is now 28 and this deal could see him finish his career as a Bronco. I guess there are no hard feelings from the AFC game.

Today Elway pulled the trigger on another deal to help out the defense. The Broncos signed DeMarcus Ware, who was let go by the Dallas Cowboys, to a three year $30 million dollar deal. Ware who is 31 will bring his 117 career sacks to a team that could use a little help on that side of the ball.

So, in just under 24 hours the Denver Broncos spent $110 million dollars to fix a defense that fell a little short in February against Seattle. I think the message is very clear, the Broncos want to win now.
