October 26th is National Pumpkin Day! Here's where to celebrate the orange gourd.
On this National Pumpkin Day let's start with some fun pumpkin facts...The United States produces 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkins annually. Illinois is the #1 pumpkin-producing state. A monster 2,145-pounder grown in Streator, Illinois is the current North American record. The world record pumpkin weighing 2,323-pounds was grown in Switzerland.
Wither you plan to carve a jack-o-lantern, bake a pie, or just sit it on the front porch, here are some fun places to get yours.
Studt’s Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze- A Grand Junction tradition for over 30 years Studt’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is one of the areas more popular spots for some Autumn afternoon fun. Load up the family to pick out a pumpkin, work through 4 corn mazes, ride a pony, and more. This Sunday is Studt's annual "Pumpkinest". It's a fun day and night filled with contests, candy, an outdoor movie, and more!
Moon Farm- Located at 1360 18 1/2 Road in Fruita is an autumn tradition that goes back to the 60's. Wallace and Ella Moon moved to the farm from Utah in 1954. They adopted 4 children and built a playhouse for their kids. In 1965, one of their sons invited his kindergarten class to the farm for a field trip. After that, more schools started coming out and as they say, the rest is history. The pumpkin patch is open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM, closed on Sundays. There are lots of things to do at Moon Farm including a haunted straw maze, corn maze, creepy clown house, and more.
