Iron Maiden Extend ‘Trooper’ Beer Line With ‘Light Brigade’ Golden Ale
The Iron Maiden machine rolls ever forward, this time in the form of the next addition to the band's line of signature Trooper beers in partnership with Robinsons Brewery. Light Brigade, an English golden ale, arrives with a charitable endeavor, with portions of the sales going to Help for Heroes.
The name is taken from the theme of "The Trooper" which tells the tale of the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War. It's alcohol content falls short of other Trooper beers at 4.1 percent ABV, aiding the "Light" theme.
“We are very proud to have been asked to get involved. I have been an instructor on several of British Airways’ flight simulator ‘Flying Heroes’ days for Help for Heroes veterans, so I know the charity and the work that they do well," began Bruce Dickinson, who once again had a hand in crafting the beer. "'Light Brigade' is our interpretation of a golden ale that maintains the elements of strength and character that are the essence of Trooper but at a more sessionable level. In fact, the two beers complement each other very well," he added.
Help for Heroes is a British charity that aids armed forces members who have had their lives affected by their time spent in the service. “Bruce and I were recently invited to visit Help for Heroes in Wiltshire, where we had a tour of the incredible recovery facilities there and met some of the Veterans," commented Robinsons' head brewer Martyn Weeks. "We were both hugely impressed with the work they are doing and launching a new beer in support of this Charity is, we believe, a great way to raise money and awareness for this very worthy cause. Robinsons will also be supporting the Charity through fundraising in our pub estate.”
Beer drinkers (and hellraisers) can pre-order Light Brigade for delivery for Feb. 1 at the Robinsons Brewery website. If you're looking to get your pull at the bar or score some of Maiden's latest brew at the liquor store, be on the lookout starting Feb. 19.
