Inmates Introduce Bed Bugs to Connecticut Jail

Prisoners bring all kinds of things into jail with them, or try to. In the Norwalk, Connecticut jail it wasn't the usual contraband that slipped past officials doing intake. It was a bug that loves to invade and infest anywhere there is blood.

Officers at the Norwalk Police Department as well as their vehicles and holding cells had to be decontaminated for bed bugs. The three inmates were on their way to court when it was noticed they left some bed bugs behind.

Officials say they had bed bug sniffing dogs check for an infestation, but it turned out to be an isolated case. Although now that the word is out it can't be long until some criminal attempts to smuggle bed bugs for a prison-wide infestation.
