In celebration of its 50th anniversary, 'True Grit' is set to return to theaters.

I was raised on John Wayne movies. My dad was a fan and my great-uncle was a 'super-fan." I've seen nearly every movie John Wayne ever made and several times over. One of The Duke's all-time greats, "True Grit," with its unforgettable scene with the yellow aspen-encircled field where Rooster battles it out with Ned Pepper and his band of outlaws, the courthouse scene, and "public hanging" were all filmed in and around Ridgeway, Colorado.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, "Ture Grit," starring John Wayne and Kim Darby, is headed back to theaters nationwide on Sunday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 8, including right here in Grand Junction. "The western you should see if you only see one western,” so says film critic Roger Ebert. John Wayne won his only Academy Award for his role as the tough one-eyed Marshall Rooster Cogburn.

The theater presentation is brought to you by Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies. This special screening features pre- and post-film commentary from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz. You can catch this classic again for yourself at The Regal Canyon View Stadium 14. For more information and to get your tickets, click HERE!
