Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon unexpectedly closed on February 15 due to a rockslide. The highway has partially reopened since the slide but needs to be closed again.

On Tuesday, March 8, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the canyon for additional work related to the February rockslide.

CDOT says they will use the day to complete rockfall mitigation fencing which requires the use of a helicopter. They will also be making additional road repairs during the closure.

The road will be closed from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. The closure will be between Glenwood Springs exit 116 and Dotsero exit 133.

During that time, drivers will have to use alternate routes or make plans to travel before or after the closure.
