COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Officials at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs say one a 7-year-old howler monkey named Eva got a brief taste of freedom this weekend when she escaped her enclosure and climbed on top of the monkey pavilion.

A zoo spokeswoman tells The Gazette the small monkey escaped Saturday afternoon after pulling back some of the mesh of her enclosure.

For about an hour, the sly little monkey snubbed efforts by staff to tempt her back into her enclosure with food. She was eventually captured with a net.
