How many Colorado state things can you name?

In my efforts to get to know more about the state that I now call home I came across the Awesome America website. They list all the 'official' state things all 50 states. Things like the state flower, bird, song, motto, and the like. I did a quick check of my home state of Missouri and realized I didn't know as much about it has I thought I did. I figured you native Coloradans may be interested in testing your knowledge of your state.

The first thing I noticed on the Colorado page is that Colorado has more official state 'things' than most including a state 'insect.' Ready to test your state knowledge? Here are 10 Colorado official things. How many do you know?

1-Entered the Union: The anniversary is coming up. It's August 1st, 1876.

2-State Nickname: "The Centennial State" (Colorado was admitted to statehood during the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.) I get it now.

3-State Bird: Lark Bunting...I'm not sure what that bird looks like.

4-State Tree: Colorado Blue Spruce...Not a pine tree?

5-State Fish: Greenback Cutthroat Trout...I would have said trout but no idea which one.

6-State Animal: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep...I could have guessed this one.

7-State Flower: Rocky Mountain Columbine...Most everyone knows this. Including me.

8-State Song: “Where the Columbines Grow"...Never heard that song.

9-State Motto: Nil sine Numine (Nothing without Providence)...Huh?

10-State Insect: Colorado Hairstreak Butterfly...Couldn't tell you that one. Never in a million years.

I only knew maybe a couple. How did you do? How many Colorado things did you know? If you got 8 out of 10 I'd say you know your state very well. 10 out of 10? You're a certified Colorado expert!
