It only happens once a year, now when it's time to do it, you don't have to make a special trip.

Colorado motorists now have the opportunity to renew car registrations while you're picking up Twinkies at the grocery store and according to the sign, you can do it in 2 minutes.

The DMV kiosks started popping up in Colorado grocery stores last year, and now they have made their way to Grand Junction. I noticed this one recently at City Market on 32 Road. According to the Colorado MV Express website, it's the only grocery store kiosk in Mesa County. However, there is a self-serve kiosk at the motor vehicle office on Spruce Street.

If you are simply renewing your registration, all you need is your license plate number and a credit card. Aside from the dollars you are paying the government for the right to drive your car on their roads --that you pay to maintain and repair, might I add-- it's a pretty painless process. You're going to the grocery store anyway, so you might as well kill two birds with one stone - in 2 minutes.
