I read a story this morning about a new product that will let you know when it's time to change your baby's diaper.

Have we gotten to the point now where we are preferring to use technology to help us raise our kids?

Consider this: The new product, a diaper, has a sensor that will alert you when it's time to change your baby's diaper. It also will monitor the child while he or she is sleeping.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the job of the parents? Are we so lazy now that we can't check a baby's diaper ourselves?

Cell phones have evolved into a product we can now not do without. It has replaced the alarm clock, the watch (for many people, their watch is also a cell phone) and is now the one thing that people worldwide consider irreplaceable.

Don't get me wrong, I love my cell phone as do many people. But it would never have replaced me or my spouse when we were raising children. Is it possible that we have allowed ourselves to get comfortable with allowing technology more access to our daily lives to the point where we couldn't function without them?

Or am I just freaking out over nothing?
