Apparently, someone shot and killed a bull moose near Meeker. The authorities need your help to catch the person responsible.

I've been a hunter for most of my life. My passion is fishing but I loved hunting. This radio profession has made getting out in the woods nearly impossible but I still have a fondness for the sport. My first elk hunt was back in the early 80's here in Colorado.

When I saw the news of a bull moose that was shot and left to rot I had to help share the news and hopefully help catch the person responsible. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials report a bull moose found dead and abandoned near Moeller Creek, off of County Road 115, just east of Meeker, on Oct. 23rd. A hunter reported finding the carcass and called Operation Game Thief to report it. It's clear the moose died from a gunshot wound near the start of the second rifle season around Oct. 21st or 22ed. Only elk and deer were in season at that time, in that area. The animal was left intact including its 42-inch rack.

KIlling big game and leaving the animal brings a felony charge and serious fines as much as $30,000 or more and possible jail time. If you know anything please contact Operation Game Thief at 877-265-6648. Or by email at game.thief@state.co.us. Rewards are available if the information leads to an arrest.
