Harvey Will Impact Colorado’s Labor Day
If getting away to some of Colorado's beautiful destinations is part of your plan this weekend, it's likely to cost you more.
Gas prices are headed up and just in time for the Labor Day weekend. Hurricane Harvey has forced the closure of several oil refineries along the gulf coast and with that means higher prices. The Gulf of Mexico offshore oil accounts for 17% of the total US production and about 45% of the refining capsity is located along the Gulf coast.
So any disruptions to that supply will mean an increase. The question is how much? According to most experts, the increase will likely be anywhere from 5 to 15 cents a gallon here in Western Colorado. That increase will likely hit around the time you head out this weekend so plan accordingly.
Thanks, Harvey! Now go away! You've long worn out your welcome.
