Grand Junction singer, songwriter, and documentary producer Larry Cappetto wrote a song saluting US military that is amazingly touching, especially on Memorial Day. Cappetto has traveled across the country filming hundreds of living veterans in an effort to preserve a very important oral history told by those who lived through the experiences of war.

He also traveled with and documented World War II veterans who were part of the Western Slope Honor Flight program.  Those flights, took veterans from the Western Slope, free of charge, to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.

Cappetto's work also involves the sorrow and grief we all should feel when a member of our nation's military is killed on the battlefield, or who survived the war and have represented US patriotism to its absolute prior to their death.

Today is a special day in the US because we have the freedom to enjoy many things people in other countries can't. It is the sacrifice of those who have protected us in the past, and those who continue to do so that should be remembered and celebrated this Memorial Day.
