Grand Junction, Monday Is National Fun At Work Day
How will you celebrate and make Monday more fun while on the job?
Monday's suck. That's a universal truth. For most of us, Monday is returning to work after a weekend of doing something other than that, even if it's lounging around watching TV.
This Monday doesn't have to suck quite as much as most. This Monday, January 28th is National Fun At Work Day! Nobody seems to be quite sure where the idea and consequently the "National Day" came from but since it appears to be a "thing" I have a few ideas on how to make it more fun! However, I'm pretty sure mine won't get past HR. Have you seen "Office Christmas Party"?
The reality is that most of us spend more time with our coworkers than we do our own families. So we might as well try to make it a more enjoyable experience, right? While you're comtemplating fun things to do at work, be creative but most importantly, make sure to get the boss’s approval before implementing the plan. If the boss agrees to join in, all the better.
There are actual professionals that offer advice on the topic. Dave Hemsath and Leslie Yerkes co-authored the book 301 Ways to Have Fun at Work say, “Organizations that integrate fun into work have lower levels of absenteeism, greater job satisfaction, increased productivity, and less downtime,” claim the writers.
