It's difficult to recycle something that's valued for only a couple hours once a generation or so. What to do with these glasses?

You can donate them. Grand Junction High School wants your used eclipse viewing glasses. The "English As A Second Language" program run by The Rotary Club plans to send them to kids in South America and Asia. That's the part of the world next to witness the phenomenon. There's a solar eclipse visible in South America on July, 2ed 2019.

I'm not sure what it's like to track down a pair of eclipse glasses in those parts but it wasn't easy here. I guess anything that relieves the stress on those kids is worth making the donation. Collect all you can and drop them off at Grand Junction High School.
