Grand Junction Celebrates Diversity at Culture Fest

Grand Junction is much more diverse than many of us realize.

Culture Fest is a celebration of art, entertainment, and activities representing the cultural diversity of Western Colorado.

The Mesa County Libraries 11th annual Culture Fest happens this weekend at the central library on north 6th Street.

This year's event will feature 18 tables representing countries from around the world like Ethiopia, Uruguay, and France. Culture fest attendees will have the chance to visit with fellow western Coloradoans who actually come from other countries. In some cases, there may be food samples representing their home country.

Entertainment is also a big part of Culture Fest with a variety of entertainers scheduled throughout the event including Nueva Generacion Folklorico Dance, Sultan’s Pride Middle Eastern Dance Troupe, Monumental Movement Dance, Dancing Arts Ballet, and Nine Province Kung Fu.

On Friday night there will be a Culture Fest Art Reception with an art show opening, live music, and light refreshments.

Approximately 2,000 people are expected through the doors this Saturday between 11am and 3pm for Culture Fest. It's a great experience for families, and what's really cool is that admission is totally free. If you have some free time on Saturday, come on out to the library and celebrate Grand Junction's cultural diversity.
