GOP Senator Blames ‘Marxism’ at CU Boulder for Daughters Tweets
A conservative senator has responded after his daughter posted messages on Twitter encouraging people to not vote for him.
Republican Robert Regan is running for a seat in the Michigan state House. At the same time, his daughter is getting her higher education at CU Boulder. His daughter recently took to Twitter to rip his campaign and tell voters not to elect him.
In a tweet that now has more than 180,000 likes and 37,000 shares, Stephanie Regan, 23 told her followers this:
'If you're in michigan and 18+ pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. tell everyone.
She followed that tweet up with a second post on twitter:
Since so many people are asking it is Robert Regan! Do a quick fb or google search to find info about his campaign. I don’t feel safe rn sharing further information regarding his beliefs, but please look him up and just read for yourself.
When asked if his daughter's words hurt, Regan answered "Of course it did. I'm a father, I'm human, you feel things like that." He went on to tell WOOD-TV that his daughter's comments are a result of young adults being "indoctrinated" with Marxism/socialism at schools like CU Boulder.
Regan tells The Hill that he isn't surprised and knows that his daughter's beliefs differ from his. In a post on Facebook, he said he was "happy" she felt comfortable speaking her truth and use her freedom of speech for something she believes in.
