Grand Jct.’s ‘Movie Under the Stars’ Seeks Musical Entertainment
Do you perform with a musical group? Are you anxious for a place to play? The Glade Park Movies Under the Stars are searching for musical acts for the 2021 movie season.
The Glade Park volunteer fire fighters are hoping to find "volunteer" entertainers to do the warm up before the movies. If your looking to find a place to get up and perform in front of an appreciative crowd, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.
The event raises funds for the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department.
According to their Facebook post, the Glade Park Movies Under the Stars organizers are working hard to finalize the 2021 summer movie lineup. If you're not familiar with this event, each year the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department hosts an outdoor movie event as part of their fundraising efforts. The "Movies Under the Stars" have become something of a Western Colorado fixture.
What happens at this event?
According to the GPVFD webpage, the event is held every Friday night throughout the summer. The grill fires up at 6 p.m. and closes when the movie starts. The concession stand runs from 5:30 p.m. and closes during the movie's intermission. Film rolls at dusk.
Has there been music in the past?
Looking back, it seems that on some occasions, but not all, the event has included live music. I see my friend Susan Cypher has performed once or twice during this event.
Who should take advantage of this?
If you enjoy playing music, you should. If you're like most musical people I know, you're going through withdrawals, if not a full-on depression, because you've been unable to get out and perform during the pandemic. Here's an excellent opportunity to get in front of a crowd.
Okay, admittedly, the featured image at the top of this post might represent a gross exaggeration. Then again, there's nothing better than performing in front of a live audience. This event has been known to draw a strong crowd.
Keep in mind, this event is a fundraiser for the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department. These folks donate their time, effort, and resources all year to protect the Glade Park region. With that in mind, it seems reasonable others could give up one evening to share their talent and help raise funds.
Here's how you get in touch.
If interested, please contact the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department. You can message them via their official Facebook page.
The Movies Under the Stars fundraisers are amazing events. They've been going on for as long as I can remember. It's all for a good cause, and a ton of fun. Why not be a part of the fun and share a little music?
