Three teen-agers' plan to steal a 70-year-old woman's car was foiled over the weekend in Seattle.

As Nancy Fredrickson was getting things out of her trunk in front of her apartment, she turned around and was confronted by the three wannabe carjackers, one of them pointing a gun directly at her face.

They demanded her keys, which she dropped on the ground without a fight. After hopping in the car, they were stumped by something sticking up in between the seats: a stick shift. After trying unsuccessfully to drive the manual transmission car away, they hopped out and took off on foot, KOMO-TV reported.

A note to all of you aspiring for a career in the car theft industry: Take an hour and learn to drive a stick. It's not that hard and it's a crucial skill for your trade.
