Five Colorado Jam Bands You Should Know About
Every now and then a Colorado band will break into the limelight, which certainly gives Coloradans a sense of pride. We have The Fray, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Dan Fogelberg and more. However, a scene that is often overlooked is the jam band genre, of which Colorado also has had some successful artists hit it big. These are the five Colorado jam bands you should know about.
The String Cheese Incident is undoubtedly one of the most popular jam bands on the scene right now. The band is originally from Crested Butte but later relocated to the front range, where they play multiple nights at Red Rocks each year.
The Motet hail from Denver, and much like The String Cheese Incident, are a very well known jam band. They also take advantage of their Colorado roots, packing the house at Red Rocks every time they play.
When you think of Colorado jam bands, Leftover Salmon definitely comes to mind. Formed in 1989 in Boulder, Leftover Salmon are still going strong, releasing music as recent as 2018 and touring extensively.
Also hailing from Boulder, The Samples are another jam band mainstay that has been around since the late 1980s. They are also still touring, even playing a show in Fruita with local band Peach Street Revival on May 29th.
Finally, we have Elephant Revival. Elephant Revival hails from the teeny tiny hippie town of Nederland and combines elements of bluegrass, folk, and rock.
