Fall Color Update: If You Haven’t Made It Out, There’s Still Time
I know it's getting late in the season but there's still beauty to behold. As you know, The Grand Mesa isn't far and a great way to spend an afternoon. My best guess is there are a couple more weeks to take in the fall color.
I didn't have much going on today so I figured I'd run up and take a look. As I worked my way up 65 highway past, the little town of Mesa, it became apparent the Aspen trees were still doing their thing.
The color had worked its way down in elevation. One only had to only drive halfway up to start enjoying the color. Up top, it's getting thin as many of the Aspen are tall white poles, but below, they're really turning it on. Down low, the Gambel Oaks are really pretty too. It's odd for this Missouri boy to see an Oak Tree that's little more than a shrub. Back home, they're the largest trees in the forest.
These pictures were taken today (Sunday) so make a plan and take it in before they're gone. Fall comes but once a year and will be over before we know it.
I'll be posting ski reports in a couple months. Sure, winter's great, it's just the ice, snow, and cold that I can do without. Fall rocks!
