Escaped Sexually Violent Predator May Be in Colorado
A man that is considered to be a sexually violent predator has escaped from the facility in which he was held and authorities have given out a warning that one of the places he may have fled to could be Colorado.
Escaped From Kansas Facility
The man, 42-year-old John Freeman Colt was being held in Kansas after being deemed a 'dangerous sex offender' to the extent that authorities refused to release him back into the public after his capture.
A Bold Plan That Worked
However, Colt formulated a plan to escape from his facility that proved to be successful.
First, Colt piled up blankets into his bed to simulate his body sleeping there, then somehow got a hold of a fake ID and posed as a doctor working at the facility. Following this, Colt allegedly got a hold of a nice set of clothes and proceeded to convince one of the staff members that he was, in fact, a doctor that was newly hired and needed directions to the exit. His plan proved to be successful as he managed to escape the facility with no further questions asked.
A press release from the facility following his escape had this to say about the incident:
Posing as a doctor, Colt was able to make his way past five secured doors and ultimately outside the gates. After escaping, Colt received a ride from a local farmer to the town of Larned. From there he rode to Scott City on a motorcycle he’d purchased prior to his escape with the help of an accomplice.
Authorities warn that Colt is likely at a campsite that could possibly be located in Colorado and for anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police immediately.
