East Middle School Student Arrested For School Shooting Remarks
A 13-year-old student was arrested for allegedly making remarks about a school shooting. The statements were made Wednesday (Feb. 21) and the student has since been charged and released to his parents.
Another student has been arrested for talking about carrying out a school shooting, according to KKCO. The 13-year-old student has since been released to his parents and was charged with:
- interference with staff, faculty or students of education institutions, which is a class one misdemeanor
After the student made the alleged remarks at school on Wednesday morning, other students overheard and reported it that afternoon. I'm proud of the kids that reported this. Whether the child was joking or not, this isn't a topic to joke about.
Multiple students have been arrested on the Western Slope for making threats just in the past few days alone. Two students were arrested at Caprock Academy on February 20 and another student was just arrested yesterday (Feb. 21) at Mesa View Elementary.
Have you spoken to your kids about the recent school shooting in Florida? If you haven't, you need to.
