Drink a little "Firkin" beer tonight at Kannah Creek Brewery, and you'll be helping C.L.A.W.S. to provide shelter for homeless cats.

Make your way to Kannah Creek Brewery at 12th and Orchard in Grand Junction tonight from 5 pm until the beer runs out, where brewers will be hand tapping a cucumber IPA Firkin keg. According to organizers, 100% of the proceeds will go to C.L.A.W.S., or Cats League and Assistance of the Western Slope.

C.L.A.W.S., the largest cats-only shelter between Denver and Salt Lake, provides shelter for homeless cats and kittens.

So, what is Firkin, you ask?  A firkin, whose name is derived from the Dutch work vierdekijn (meaning fourth) is a small barrel which is one-fourth the size of a regular barrel.
