A radio host in Denver made an incredibly insensitive comment on his talk show and because of this, the show has been canceled. The host, Chuck Boniwell, hosted a show from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Denver's 710 KNUS-AM radio station with his wife, Julie Hayden.

The two were discussing the current impeachment proceedings of President Trump when Boniwell commented that "you wish for a nice school shooting to break up the monotony." his cohost was probably just as shocked as listeners at this comment and insisted that he shouldn't say things like that, and urged listeners to not call in.

710 KNUS-AM is owned by Salem Media Colorado, a radio group that typically specializes in religious music and conservative talk. Although conservative talk show hosts tend to be edgy at times, the comment made by Boniwell was enough for the company to step in and cancel the show.

While comments like this are no doubt in bad taste, Denver has an unfortunate history of shootings, including the Columbine High School Massacre, the movie theater shooting orchestrated by James Holmes, and the most recent STEM Highland's Ranch shooting. Because of this, shootings are an especially sensitive subject here in Colorado and the comments made by Boniwell were received especially poorly.

710 KNUS has also removed "Chuck and Julie" from their website, although there is not a statement on that particular page, merely a message stating that the page can no longer be found. 710 KNUS is also home to hosts such as Peter Boyles, Steffan Tubbs, Randy Corporon, and Jimmy Sengenberger.

However, on the front page of their website KNUS did issue this statement:

Given the history of school violence that has plagued our community, 710 KNUS confirms that an inappropriate comment was made on the Chuck & Julie show by co-host Chuck Bonniwell.  A programming decision was made to end the program immediately.
Starting tomorrow, December 19, the 710KNUS, 1-4 pm weekday time slot will feature the Salem Network show, America First, hosted by Sebastian Gorka.
