Cheers to this: A new gay sports bar, Tight End, is moving into the former home of the punk pub and venue, Streets Denver (formerly Streets of London), and we should all take a moment to appreciate that name.

The Colfax bar's location was home to Streets for decades, and in years past, it had been known to attract neo-Nazi clientele. In 2018, its new owner, John Elliot, condemned racists and 'Proud Boys,' promising they'd be thrown out of the 'punk dive,' Westword reported. Elliot successfully cleaned up the bar's reputation and made it a more inclusive space, however in 2020, he passed away after a second infection of COVID-19, and the bar closed permanently in the spring of 2021.

The story of Streets Denver is one of loss, especially for that niche punk rock community, and those who were close to Elliot. But, now the location will be home to a safe space for another community to gather, as Denver's first gay sports bar.

Its website says that 'Tight End is a gay sports bar providing a fun, lively environment with nine TVs, patio, high-quality sound and a full beer and cocktail list. All are welcome in our safe space!'

All except the neo-Nazis. Tight End is now open at 1501 E Colfax Avenue in Denver.
