Colorado Beer Heir Closes LGBTQ+ Bar Due to Homeless + Drugs
A bar that has been a staple for the LGBTQ+ community in downtown Denver, Colorado since the 1970s has unfortunately closed.
One of the owners, Scott Coors, who is the grandson of beer legend Adolph Coors, came to the difficult conclusion that the area had become too overrun with homeless people, many of whom did drugs out in the open, and decided that closing the bar was the best thing to do in order to keep his employees and patrons safe.
What is Denver Colorado's Triangle Bar?

The Triangle Bar is a famous bar just down the road from Coors Field at 2036 North Broadway and was known to be a regular hangout for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The bar originally opened in the 1970s when members of the LGBTQ+ community weren't as widely accepted and according to Coors, it was a bit of a dive bar back in those days.
Coors bought into the Triangle Bar, becoming a part-owner in 2017. Everything seemed to be going well at first, but just a few years later the COVID-19 pandemic would change that for the worse.
What Happened to Denver Colorado's Triangle Bar?
The COVID-19 pandemic wasn't fun for anyone, and The Triangle Bar was hurt especially badly by it. The pandemic saw homeless camps being set up on the property and according to Coors, many of these people were doing hard drugs out in the open.
It wasn't long before employees and patrons of The Triangle Bar voiced concern for their safety which prompted Coors to administer a survey regarding the future of the bar. Unfortunately, it appeared that the damage had been done, and based on the results of the survey, Coors closed The Triangle Bar indefinitely.
What's Next for Denver Colorado's Triangle Bar?
While the famous bar is technically "temporarily closed," Scott Coors has made it clear that if the bar does reopen, he doesn't plan to have anything to do with it.
Coors makes it clear that he personally blames drugs, not necessarily homelessness in itself, for the bar's unfortunate closure.
It's possible that someone will step in and reopen the bar, though Coors believes that the area will need to be cleaned up quite a bit before that happens.
