
Colorado’s Average SAT Scores are Surprisingly Low
While Colorado has been named the healthiest state in the Nation for numerous consecutive years, and is also known as being home to some exceptional institutions that produce some of the country's most educated individuals, the Centennial State lacks in one major aspect of the educational system.

Surprisingly, Colorado is ranked pretty low when it comes to the SAT scores received by its young adult residents who are preparing for higher education.
How Does Colorado Rank When it Comes to SAT Scores?
According to data released as recently as 2024, Colorado sits at about 37th out of 51, including all 50 states and the District of Columbia, when it comes to SAT scores.

While large and heavily populated states like Texas, Florida, and Michigan showed up lower on the list, a look at how the Centennial State's neighboring states proves to be rather eye-opening.
How Do Colorado's Neighboring States Compare When it Comes to SAT Scores?
Colorado's average SAT score in 2024 was 998, cementing its spot at number 37 on the National scale.
However, neighboring states like Oklahoma and New Mexico actually showed up lower on the list with scores of 966 and 885, respectively. In fact, New Mexico was ranked lowest on the list when it came to National SAT scores in 2024.
The states that border Colorado and produced higher SAT scores in 2024 include Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming, and Kansas, with average scores of 1,227, 1,230, 1,253, and 1,256, respectively.
