Considered by some to be "an unfortunate moniker," stoner rock is often slower and heavier than your typical rock bands and often features fuzzed-out guitars and lyrical themes that vary from topics like mythical creatures, the occult, space, and, obviously, marijuana.

The stoner rock subgenre also encompasses several other sub-subgenres such as doom metal, sludge, desert rock, and psychedelic rock, to name a few. Some of the most popular bands that fall into the subgenre include Kyuss, Electric Wizard, Clutch, The Sword, Sleep, Corrosion of Conformity, and Monster Magnet.

A New Compilation Features 39 Stoner Rock Bands from Colorado

The compilation was put together by an online group known as Weedian on November 2nd, 2023. Appropriately titled, "Trip to Colorado," the cover art was created by @joyoewito and features a sasquatch playing guitar in the woods. This particular compilation was preceded by albums such as "Trip to Arkansas," "Trip to Pennsylvania," "Trip to Mexico," and many more.
