Just east of Pagosa Springs, on Highway 160 lies one incredibly gorgeous hike.

It's a short hike to the falls, but one worth taking.

The name comes from Treasure Mountain where French explorers found gold but succumbed to the harsh winters, native hunters and disease.

The 45-minute trip affords you some amazing views as the trail switches back and forth as it heads to the top of the falls. As you travel Wolf Creek Pass, you will find the entrance to the parking lot about halfway up, but before you get to the ski area. Even the views from the parking lot are impressive.

Once you get to the top of the falls, be prepared to be impressed. The trail up is easy, but keep in mind recent weather will have an impact on the trail, so make sure you wear good hiking shoes and bring a jacket.

This dog-friendly (as long as they're on a leash) hike will take a little less than an hour but will stay with you long after you leave.

Definitely another hike on my list.
