Bunch has been part of the Aurora Police Department for roughly 20 years, as he was hired by the department back in 2005.

How Was the Colorado Police Sergeant Caught?

Bunch was caught as a result of an investigation by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force on the evening of Wednesday, October 9, 2025, and was taken into custody from his home.

Neighbors reported seeing numerous law enforcement vehicles in the area at the time Bunch was taken into custody, with one claiming to see what appeared to be a computer being seized from Bunch’s home.

While possessing sexually explicit material of minors is disturbing in itself, the nature of Bunch’s job makes the charges even more troubling.

The Colorado Officer Worked Around Children

According to Denver7, immediately prior to his arrest, Bunch worked as a school resource officer for Aurora Public Schools and the Cherry Creek School District, though it doesn’t appear that he was assigned to any particular school.

What is Going to Happen to the Colorado Officer?

While it’s unclear as to what exactly is going to happen to Bunch following his arrest, Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain released the following statement:

I want to make it absolutely clear; these actions will never be tolerated. This case will be investigated thoroughly, and the individual will be held accountable through both the criminal justice system and our internal processes.

In addition to the investigation being carried out by the Aurora Police Department, the FBI is also carrying out a separate investigation.
