See the Amazing Ice Caves and Frozen Waterfalls at Rifle Mountain Park
Ready for a fun winter hike? Head 90 minutes up the highway to Colorado's Rifle Mountain Park for an incredible photo opportunity in the Upper and Lower Ice Caves.
You'll be hiking Koper's Trail which is a rock and dirt trail in the summer that is covered in snow and ice most winters. It's an easy hike, just make sure you are dressed for winter.
Koper's Trail at Colorado's Rifle Mountain Park
This trail is just under a mile and is considered easy for all ages. The trail is pet friendly and is marked by signs making it easy to find and to follow the trail back to the ice caves and the winter features you can see along the way once conditions are right. It's an easy drive through the mountains and a fun trip that's close enough to pull off on short notice.
Ice Caves and Winter Features on Koper's Trail at Rifle Mountain Park
In addition to the caves, you'll be able to see the "Full Metal Jacket", "The Old Tree Slab", and "The Final Curtain". These features are formed in areas of open rock that gets covered in ice and creates the cave environment. This destination is definitely one to add to your things to do before March 1st.
