Davis Mortuary has been in operation at its location at 128 Broadway Avenue and is currently being run by Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter.

How Were the Remains Discovered at the Colorado Mortuary?

A routine inspection was scheduled at the mortuary on the day that the discovery was made, and despite Cotter objecting, the inspectors entered a hidden room with an entryway masked by cardboard after noticing a foul smell.

This smell was found to be the product of decomposing human remains.

What Exactly Was Found at the Colorado Mortuary?

Upon entering the secret room, investigators discovered deceased human bodies in various stages of decomposition, and, according to reports, some of the remains had been there for upwards of 15 years.

Reports of the unfortunate and morbid discovery also state that Cotter may have given family members of the deceased cremated remains that did not actually come from the bodies he told them that they did.

It's unclear as to what charges Cotter might face following the incident, but for now, Davis Mortuary has been instructed to cease all operations.
