Did Someone Really Steal Body Parts from a Colorado Cemetery?
This sinister incident feels like a plot straight out of an episode of Criminal Minds or CSI, however, it is no television show happening at one Colorado cemetery.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, an investigation is underway into body parts that have been stolen from the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
At approximately 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Crown Hill Cemetery at 777 West 29th Ave. on a call of damage to one of the mausoleums on the property.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office observed severe damage to the crypt and one of the caskets inside.
Evidence shows that someone forced entry into the crypt and got into the casket, according to the Colorado agency. Further investigation showed that the remains of the body inside the casket were not complete, and portions had been removed.
The incident at Crown Hill Cemetery appears to have occurred by the unknown suspects in the overnight hours. A full search of the area was conducted, and the crime scene was processed for evidence.
The investigation is currently ongoing, and anyone who may have information on this crime is being urged to contact the Jefferson County Tipline at 303-271-5612.
