While this figure is impressive, on the national level, Colorado is ranked only seventh when it comes to money brought in from marijuana tax revenue in 2025.
What States Have Collected More Marijuana Tax Revenue than Colorado in 2025?
According to a recent report, the states that have collected more marijuana tax revenue than Colorado in 2025 are Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan, Washington, Illinois, and California, each of which has similar laws regarding the legalization of recreational marijuana.
The report shows a figure of $283 million in Arizona, $289 million in Massachusetts, $331 million in Michigan, $454 million in Washington, $457 million in Illinois, and over a billion dollars in California in 2025.
How Much Have States that Border Colorado Collected in Marijuana Tax Revenue?
Besides Arizona, the other state that borders Colorado, in which recreational marijuana is legal, is New Mexico, and in 2025, the Land of Enchantment collected nearly $56 million in marijuana tax revenue.
In Oklahoma, where medical marijuana is legal, it has been reported that roughly $51 million in marijuana tax revenue has been collected in the past year.
