LOOK: Lizard Head Trail Should Be on Your Colorado Bucket List
If you know your way around Colorado, you probably know of some amazing places to go to soak in some amazing scenery. Some of these places are hiking trails, some require a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and a few of them are best to tackle via horseback.
Today we're going to check out a trail that lends itself well to the latter mode of transportation with some of the most beautiful views that the Centennial State has to offer.
Colorado's Natural Beauty on the Lizard Head Trail
When one thinks of examples of "God's Country" across the great state of Colorado, there's a good chance that an area outside of the picturesque mountain town of Telluride will land on the list.
Lizard Head Trail is located near the popular destination town as well as a smaller town by the name of Rico and has a little bit of everything when it comes to Colorado's natural beauty.
The trail goes from a gorgeous meadow to a wooded area, followed by a jaunt up a mountain that's straddled by steep drops. At this point, you can look in any direction and see the amazing San Miguel Mountains, as well as a rock formation known as Black Face, a lake, and more.
From here, the trail leads almost all the way to another rock formation known as Lizard Head Peak.
The moderately difficult hike can be taken on foot, though equestrians prefer to travel on horseback.
