Facebook blew up earlier this month with the story of Bob, an abused puppy from Colorado. Dog lovers can breathe a little easier. Bob has found his new forever home.

Police in Pueblo, Colorado, say Bob was thrown against a car by a man high on meth. That event took place on December 14. According to KOAA.com, the man was transported to the hospital and was cited for animal cruelty.

Bob's future fell to the care of staff at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. That facility began the search for Bob's prospective family by conducting an unusual adoption process. So many hopefuls stepped forward wanting to adopt Bob, the shelter had people enter their name in a drawing. According to The Denver Channel, applicants had to fill out a form at the facility in person, then staff members selected someone at random from their database.

The winner in Bob's adoption was selected at 12:30 p.m. today (Friday, Dec. 27). The person selected, Beth Sisneros from Peyton, plans to change Bob's name to Buddy Jr. The temporary name of 'Bob' was selected by staff at the shelter.

Congratulations to Bob, now known as Buddy Jr, and to Beth. I sincerely hope you will be happy together. In addition, thanks to all of those who lined up at the shelter in hopes of adopting Bob. Your compassion makes for the perfect feel-good story to end 2019.
