Camelot Camel Dairy is located way out in the eastern plains of Colorado at 50643 County Rd KK, Wray, CO 80758.
Started by Kyle Hendrix, the dairy farm produces as many as 16 pints of camel milk each day, with as many as 40 heads of camel.
Camel milk isn't recommended as a replacement for human breast milk, but it does have numerous advantages over cow's milk which include its low amount of saturated fat and sugar, and high concentration of antioxidants and calcium.
If you've spent a good amount of time around cows, you probably know that they're not the smartest animals on Earth. Camels, however, are friendly, intelligent, and each has their own unique personality.
Producing camel milk is a delicate process, and must be pasteurized, bottled, and frozen fairly quickly. In addition, in order to successfully obtain camel milk, the cow that's being milked needs to have a calf nearby which is something you don't find with cows.
These and other numerous factors make camel milk a bit of a delicacy in the United States and you can expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $16 for a pint of camel milk.
