Over the past few days there have been a number of news stories about the NFL moving the Super Bowl to either Saturday, February 1 or to Monday, February 3 due to the weather. Would they really do this? I think not.

The weather forecast for the big game is cloudy with a chance of a wintry mix and highs expected around 37 at kickoff. That sounds like football weather to me so what is the big deal? There is no big deal really both teams will have to play in it.

The fact is they can’t really move the game. We are talking about thousands of people who have their plans set in stone. If they moved the game to Monday who would pay for all the rooms? The hotels are not going to give everyone a free night and the NFL isn’t going to pick up the bill. Plus, New York is a major world hub and some of those rooms will be book for Monday.

There is also the airfare to think about. If you have ever tried to move an airline ticket you know what I’m talking about. There are fees and seat availability to consider so who will pick up that bill? The NFL isn’t going to pick any cost to the fans if they move the game. That will make a few people more than a little ticked off and when people get ticked off they sue.

Will they win? I don’t think so, but it would be a black eye on a league-of-millionaires who don’t need any help in that department.

This whole conversation about moving the game because of the weather is just silly. If the NFL is so worried about how the weather conditions will effect the game then maybe they should thought about that before booking the Super Bowl in New Jersey.

I think this whole story about moving the game is the product of the media. There isn’t very much to talk about with this game. After the media beat the Richard Sherman thing to death they ran out of stuff to talk about. Neither team is going to go off at the mouth and give the other team or the media a lead news story so they need to milk what ever they can. Kick-off is set for 4:30pm Mountain Time Sunday February 2nd see you then.
