Breaking news this morning - the U.S. ambassador to Libya has been killed. President Obama has of course condemned the killing of our ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stephens. He died along with three other Americans in a rocket attack on the U.S. consulate office in Benghazi, Libya.

President Obama called the attacks "outrageous". Three other Americans were also killed with President Obama adding, "Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States." He is the first U.S. ambassador to die in an attack since 1979.

The Libyan Prime Minister has apologized for the killing "to the American people and the government
and also to the rest of the world," calling the killing a "cowardly criminal act."

Now the U.S. embassy security worldwide has been upped because of the attack. Another of the killed Americans was Sean Smith a Foreign Information Management officer who served the State Department for a decade. The other victims names have not been made public.

The Libyan Prime Minister said consulate security opened fire when they heard gunshots outside the mission which angered those who stormed the consulate office. He also alluded that those responsible are still loyal to the regime of the dead former dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

"Criminals managed to get in and they burned and ransacked the consulate," added the Libyan Prime Minister. The Libyan government condemned the attacks on Twitter calling them, "Barbaric acts in the strongest possible terms. This is an attack on America, Libya and free people everywhere."

Yesterday a video on the Internet sparked outrage among followers of Islam as they considered it offensive. In response to the film the U.S. mission in Egypt was attacked as well where protesters ripped down the American flag and put up their own black flag that read
"There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger," which is a phrase often used by Islamic radicals.
