There is no question that the farmers market in downtown Grand Junction draws a large crowd on Thursday evenings, but the Sunset Terrace Happy Hour has also become a popular Thursday evening hangout.

Every Thursday during the downtown farmers market, the Sunset Terrace at the Avalon Theatre hosts a happy hour with drink specials and live local music.

The featured music comes from local musicians and sometimes scaled down versions of local bands. Most recently (see video) Clyde, from Clyde & the Milltailers was the featured performer and provided a great back drop for people hanging out, relaxing, and visiting with friends. The view of the Book Cliffs is amazing, which is one reason why people like to hang out there.

People come and go throughout the evening, so the crowd is ever changing, and there is no admission or cover charge. It's a happening place and people are shocked at the low-priced beverages. Nachos are also offered with a selection of cheese dips.

Here's a look at upcoming live music on the terrace.

  • August 17 - Zolopht's Zac Grant
  • August 24 - Bicycle Annie
  • August 31 - Jack + Jill
  • September 7 - Tim and Richard

Come on down before the end of summer and experience the good times on the Sunset Terrace.
