Mesa County Sheriff's Office stopped a man from Illinois traveling eastbound on I-70 with 84 pounds of pre-packaged marijuana.

Peter Vercillo, 37, of Illinois was booked by the Mesa County Sheriff's office interstate interdiction deputies on one count of intent to distribute marijuana. Vercillo was stopped for a left lane violation near mile marker 12 in Loma, Colo. around 6 p.m. yesterday (March 31).

MCSO brought in a drug-sniffing K-9 to confirm the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Close to 84 pounds of pre-packaged marijuana was found in the vehicle.

A person 21-years-old or older can possess up to one ounce of marijuana, 84 pounds is over 1000-times more than the legal limit.
