True Crime: 48 Hours To Cover Case of Missing Colorado Mom

A missing Salida, Colorado woman is presumed dead by authorities, and her story is now heading to television.

According to a report from CBS News, the popular television series 48 Hours is premiering an episode that dives into the disappearance of Suzanne Morphew on Saturday, January 22.

Suzanne Morphew's Strange Disappearance

It was Mother's Day, May 10, 2020, when a neighbor of Suzanne Morphew reported the 49-year-old missing.

Initially, investigators were led to believe that Suzanne left on a bike ride and never returned. Suzanne's husband, Barry Morphew, told law enforcement that he left out of town early that morning for work and that Suzanne was asleep in their bed.

Colorado Law Enforcement Investigates

Police began an intense investigation for Suzanne and it wasn't long before they realized things weren't as they seemed.

Investigators found several inconsistencies in Barry's version of events and questioned him for some strange behaviors and evidence they found.

Barry attempted to explain away his frantic movements throughout the home which were tracked via his cellphone, as attempts to find chipmunks to shoot.

When law enforcement found a tranquilizer cap with Suzanne's DNA, Barry claimed to use tranquilizers on deer he hunted.

Barry Morphew's Alleged Motive

Authorities believe that Suzanne revealed her plans to leave to Barry, and informed him of a relationship she had developed with another man.

With a ton of supporting evidence and contradictory statements from Barry, law enforcement determined that Barry may have killed Suzanne to keep control.

Suzanne's body has never been found, but she is assumed dead by police.

Barry Morphew Is Free On Bond

An arrest warrant was issued for Barry and he was subsequently arrested for the murder of his wife Suzanne.

However, Barry is currently free on bond until trial. Barry maintains his innocence and even posted this video on social media.
