Colorado’s Reveille Wildfire Has Been Burning For Two Weeks
The wildfire near Gardner, Colorado continues to grow.
Just because the Colorado drought is officially over doesn't mean that wildfires aren't a concern, they are and an early season fire is burning in the San Isabel National Forest just northwest of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The fire was started by a lightning strike back on June 3rd. The good news is that's in a remote location and isn't a threat to life or property.
The fire has burned over 150 acres and is growing. To minimize the risk to firefighters, managers have chosen a "full-suppression strategy using indirect tactics." Because of the difficult terrain and low-risk to human life the fire is likely to burn for weeks or even months. The local weather forecast shows showers and rain in the area. That should help the cause. For the latest on this or any Colorado wildfire, check out the InciWeb site by clicking HERE.
