Few leading men are as reliable as Kevin Costner, who can fluctuate between icy badass and adoring father figure at the drop of a hat. So what happens when you cast him as a tough secret agent and a dad who just wants to spend time with his daughter? Well, the new '3 Days to Kill' trailer gives us a peek at such a scenario.

Directed by McG of 'Charlie's Angels,' 'Terminator: Salvation' and 'This Means War' fame and co-written by action maestro Luc Besson, '3 Days to Kill' seems comfortably old fashioned in its set-up. Costner plays a spy with the hilariously awesome name of Ethan Runner who would very much like to get out of the espionage business and spend time with his daughter (played by 'True Grit' star Hailee Steinfeld). The only real fault in this plan is that he's dying and the only way to receive the treatment that will save his life is to go on (wait for it) one last job.

The unlikely trio of Costner, McG and Besson is an interesting one. Costner, the seasoned pro. McG, the uneven but often interesting mainstream filmmaker. Besson, the writer who never met an action-movie cliche he didn't want to embrace and try to turn inside out. We have no idea if their film will be any good, but color us intrigued.

'3 Days to Kill' opens on February 21, 2014. You can check out the first poster below.
